Discover the history of agriculture and aviation, visit the local zoo or wildlife refuge, and experience the many museums, cultural centers, and galleries that showcase the unique and vibrant cultural heritage found in Merced County.

Mariposa County

Mariposa County covers more than 1,460 square miles of the western slope of the Sierra Nevada, rising from the edge of California’s Central Valley through golden foothills and all the way up to the alpine heights of Yosemite National Park and the High Sierra. From low elevation lakes to high elevation peaks, from the Sierra National Forest to the Stanislaus National Forest, Mariposa County offers countless activities such as mountain biking, skydiving, white-water rafting, fishing, bird watching, wine tasting and even olive oil sampling. Home to Yosemite National Park, rich Gold Rush history, authentic mountain towns and friendly locals that enjoy one of the best small-town cultures in all of America, Mariposa County is your getaway within reach, providing a vacation destination that is easy to navigate and small-town affordable.
